Admissions Process

The McIntire School of Commerce is an upper-division school at the University of Virginia. This means that students have to apply to McIntire in their first or second year at UVA.

In academic year 2024-2025, there will be two options to apply:

  • Apply in your first year at UVA after meeting the required prerequisites (applications open in January), and once admitted, start at McIntire as a second-year.
  • Apply as a second-year student after completing a first year of liberal arts and business prerequisites (second-year student applications open in the fall and decisions are released in the spring for entry into the school as third-year students in the fall of 2025)

Our admissions process takes a holistic approach. We’re looking for students who have explored and learned about the world through a liberal arts education and who will bring this perspective into their understanding of business.

I love how both UVA and McIntire have allowed me to pursue my many interests so far! My favorite part of McIntire has been the engaging classroom dynamics and the supportive faculty.
