Black Commerce Student Network at McIntire

The Black Commerce Student Network at McIntire (BCSN) provides current and prospective McIntire students who identify as Black and our allies with support and resources to strengthen community and ensure the success and professional development of its members. BCSN strives to address the professional needs of its members and build leaders with an unfaltering commitment to inspire their successors. This is accomplished through a variety of activities such as:

  • Third-Year Pre-Orientation, during which fourth-year Commerce students welcome incoming third-years and help them prepare for the coming semester with advice on navigating the classroom, resolving team conflicts, and managing stress.

  • BCSN holds regular General Body Meetings to connect with members and encourage and support both current and prospective students. During these meetings, we discuss our goals and how to achieve them. At several meetings, guest speakers also discuss a wide range of topics.

  • BCSN alumni regularly connect and maintain relationships at UVA during Black Alumni Weekend and also at annual networking receptions in the DC area.

  • Recruitment: Working with the Office of Undergraduate Admission, BCSN supports tutoring and mentoring programming for first- and second-year students.
