Robert G. Byron (A&S '73, Law '76)
Chairman, Co-CEO, and Co-Founder, Blue Vista Capital Management
Robert G. Byron is the Chairman, Co-CEO, and Co-Founder of Blue Vista Capital Management. Byron sits on the firm’s Board of Directors, Management and Investment Committees. Byron has more than 46 years of real estate investment management and transaction experience, having completed over $20 billion in real estate transactions in his career, including over $11.8 billion of transactions since forming Blue Vista.
Prior to forming Blue Vista, Byron held the position of Chief Investment Officer for the McShane Corporation, a Chicago-based development and construction company. Prior to that, he led AEW Capital Management’s Investment Banking Group. Byron has also held senior positions with LaSalle Partners (now JLL), as well as assisted several Chicago-based real estate entrepreneurs in capitalizing and overseeing their real estate operations. Byron began his real estate career at VMS Realty Partners, where he served as General Counsel and eventually moved to the transaction side of the business. Prior to that, Byron practiced law in Chicago.
Byron earned a J.D. and a B.A. with Honors from the University of Virginia. He currently serves on the University of Virginia’s Jefferson Scholarship Foundation Board, Architecture School Board, Jefferson Trust Board, UVA Foundation Board, and Affordable Housing Task Force. Byron is also a Trustee of the Urban Land Institute, a member of the Board of Directors of the Posse Foundation, and a member of the Thomas Jefferson (Monticello) Foundation Summit Board.
