Hi everyone! My name is Michelle Xiao, and I am a third-year concentrating in Finance and Management with a track in Global Commerce. I am from Oakton, VA, and so attending UVA has always been a dream of mine. I was specifically interested in McIntire because of its unique classroom setup, with corporate sponsors and an immersive, collaboration-focused course load.
I like to spend my time on Grounds in a variety of activities. I am heavily involved in Pi Beta Phi, Madison House, and VISAS. I love to connect with the UVA community through various ways, and so I am always looking for new clubs and organizations to join!
So far, my McIntire experience has been incredible. I have loved connecting with my peers and learning from diverse perspectives during class. The coursework has been a welcomed challenge, and I have been thoroughly enjoying our thoughtful, seminar-style discussions!
Additionally, everyone has been super friendly and welcoming. I'm excited to see how these next two years go!
I love to get out of my comfort zone and try new things. In my free time, I enjoy reading, watching sitcoms, and trying out new recipes.
My favorite book is The Song of Achilles, which I actually wrote my UVA supplemental on! I enjoy rewatching "Brooklyn 99," "Community," and "30 Rock" often. Additionally, my favorite recipe is spaghetti bolognese.
