Wixom Wins Honorable Mention in SIM Paper Competition

July 19, 2000—Professor Barbara H. Wixom, Hugh J. Watson (Professor of MIS, Terry College of Business), and Don Stoller (Owens & Minor) recently won Honorable Mention in the 2000 Society for Information Management paper competition with their entry, "WISDOM Provides Competitive Advantage at Owens & Minor." This international competition recognizes individuals who have demonstrated their insight and expertise in showing how IT can be used to effectively achieve organizational goals and enhance performance. Their paper describes how Owens & Minor has used data warehousing and Web technologies to connect customers and suppliers to compete more effectively and efficiently in the new economy. Wixom won first place in the 1999 competition.
