The McIntire Center for Financial Innovation Holds First Symposium

Nov. 20, 2000—McIntire Center for Financial Innovation, dedicated to research and teaching that emphasize creativity in the investments arena, hosted its inaugural symposium Nov. 17, 2000. The symposium, “Hedge Fund Strategies and Performance,” explored hedge fund firm strategies and challenges and the impact of hedge funds on world financial markets. It featured leading financial experts, including:

  • Lee Ainslie (Engineering ’86), Managing Partner, Maverick Capital

  • Michael Bills (A&S ’78), former COO, Tiger Management, and McIntire Faculty Member

  • Marvin Bush, (A&S ’79), Founder and Managing Partner, Winston Partners Group

  • John Griffin (McIntire ’85), Founder and President, Blue Ridge Capital, and Symposium Co-Chairman

  • Paul Tudor Jones II (A&S ’76), Founder and Chairman, Tudor Group of Companies

  • Leah Modigliani, Vice President of Equity Research, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter

  • David Ravenscraft, Professor, Kenan-Flagler Business School

  • Julian H. Robertson Jr., former Chairman, Tiger Management
