 Application & Courses

Application

The Leadership minor, which requires 15 credit hours, is open to all undergraduate students. Students begin the experience by taking "Leadership Across the Disciplines," which is cross-listed as Soc 2600 and Comm 2600, in the spring of their second year. At the end of this class, students who wish to pursue the Leadership minor apply to the LEAD Program through an application process. Students admitted to the program take another three-hour leadership course, a three-hour course from a set of approved electives, and a six-hour practicum in the form of a field project.

The application process requires a brief description of a proposed field project. This proposal need not be detailed at this point, but it is expected to have significant ideas and ambitious, yet viable, goals. As students plan their projects, they will identify a faculty adviser from their major area as well as a mentor from outside the University.

Course Requirements
