Accounting

Widely recognized as one of the country’s best undergraduate accounting programs, McIntire’s Accounting concentration has been carefully crafted to help educate fourth-year students to become thoughtful, ethical financial experts.

Through interactive, team-based learning and the analysis of real-world accounting challenges, our program provides students with outstanding knowledge of general business principles, as well as the analytical and conceptual skills essential to an understanding of current accounting practices. Crucially, too, the program strives to ensure that its graduates understand the key role their work plays in the allocation of resources in both the public and private sectors, as well as in the achievement of both social and economic goals. McIntire’s Accounting concentrators are highly sought by top employers, and typically go on to work in fields such as business consulting, financial management, independent auditing, and tax advisory.

Our undergraduate curriculum provides many of the accounting courses typically required by state licensing boards, and serves as an outstanding preparation for students who wish to take the CPA exam. Because most states now require 150 credit hours of college-level courses, many of our undergraduate students who wish to become CPAs stay on for our highly regarded graduate program in accounting.
