Information for International Applicants
An international applicant is anyone who is not a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident at the time of application to the University of Virginia. International applicants should submit their application as early as possible to allow ample time to arrange a student visa if admitted. If you have questions about any of the following information, please feel free to contact McIntire’s Graduate Admissions Office.
Please be aware that the M.S. in MIT Program is a non-residential program. All international applicants are expected to be fully employed through out the duration of the program.
Application Deadline
We strongly recommend that international applicants apply before the January 15 deadline.
Transcripts
The McIntire School of Commerce requires a professional credential evaluation for all transcripts/mark sheets from non-U.S. colleges or universities. Please have your official transcripts/mark sheets sent directly to a credential evaluating service for review. Photocopies and facsimiles of transcripts are not acceptable. A notarized copy of your transcripts does not serve as an official academic record. If official transcripts are not available, then graduation and degree certificates indicating class or quality of degree, along with mark sheets that include the grade scale, must be submitted to the credentialing service. An official copy of the evaluation report must be sent from the third-party service to the Office of Graduate Marketing & Admissions, McIntire School of Commerce, University of Virginia, P.O. Box 400173, Charlottesville, VA 22904-4173.
TOEFL
Non-native English speakers must demonstrate strong oral and written English language skills. We recommend a TOEFL score of 620 (paper), 270 (computer), or above to be competitive for admission. Please be sure to submit your scores to School Code 5829.
Financial Guarantee Form
International students must complete a financial guarantee form, allowing $6,000 for a spouse or partner and $3,000 for each dependent.
