Donald D. Olinger

Donald Olinger (McIntire ’81) is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at MeriStar Hospitality Corporation, one of the nation’s largest hotel real estate investment trusts. In this role, Mr. Olinger oversees MeriStar's capital market, investor relations, accounting, tax, and human resource functions.

Before his appointment at MeriStar Hospitality, Mr. Olinger served as Senior Vice President and Corporate Controller for Host Marriott, and in that role he created the accounting, forecasting, and systems operations for the company. Previously, he was with accounting firm Deloitte & Touche.

Mr. Olinger is a CPA. He is a member of the board of directors of the District of Columbia Chapter of Financial Executives International and is a board member and chairs the Financial Accounting Standards Committee of the National Association of Real Estate Companies. He has also served on the Best Financial Practices Council for the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts.

Mr. Olinger is married to the former Cynthia Herring (McIntire ’81). They and their two children reside in North Potomac, Md. He is involved in the local community as president of his children’s summer swim team and serves as president of the Quince Orchard High School Booster Club. Mr. Olinger also enjoys golf, sports in general, and reading.
