Jeffrey D. Elgin

Jeff Elgin is a Business Information Officer at Capital One, where he is responsible for marketing platforms in Capital One’s credit card business. He was previously responsible for the company’s initial e-commerce initiatives. Before his current tenure at Capital One, Mr. Elgin was Director of Engineering at Aether Systems, leading teams to deliver end-to-end wireless and mobile business solutions to Fortune 500 companies, focusing in financial services as well as transportation and logistics. Before Capital One and Aether, Mr. Elgin was IT Manager and Chief Information Architect at GE Information Services, where he led a team of internal consultants as well as IT development and support functions. Mr. Elgin also worked for eight years in management consulting with McKinsey & Company and the predecessor of Accenture, focusing primarily on technology strategy and implementation in a variety of industries.

Mr. Elgin graduated in 1985 from McIntire, where he concentrated in finance and MIS, and again in 2003 from the School's MS in MIT program. He is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma. He is married to the former Carolyn Cooke, a graduate of the Kenan-Flagler Business School at UNC–Chapel Hill. They have two sons, Matthew and Andrew. The family is active year-round with youth sports; they also enjoy Virginia football and spending time in the mountains near Charlottesville.
