David B. Barr

David Barr is past Chair of the McIntire Advisory Board and a 1985 graduate of the McIntire School of Commerce. He is currently CEO and Co-Owner of PMTD Restaurants, an owner of 18 KFC restaurants in Alabama and Georgia. Mr. Barr is also the Chairman of Samuels Jewelers, the eighth largest jewelry company in the United States, with 108 stores primarily in the western United States. Previously, from 1994 to 1998, Mr. Barr was the CEO of Great American Cookies, a franchiser and operator of 360 mall-based cookie stores, and on behalf of its shareholders sold the company to Mrs. Fields in 1998.

Mr. Barr started his career after McIntire with Price Waterhouse in Atlanta in the company's real estate auditing and consulting group. After being promoted to Manager in 1991, Mr. Barr left PW and joined PepsiCo in the company's finance group, with operational finance duties for approximately 600 Pizza Hut restaurants. Mr. Barr lives in Atlanta with his wife, Cynthia (A&S '85), and his two sons, whom he coaches in most of their athletic endeavors, including soccer, baseball, basketball, and lacrosse.
