To Set up an IMAP Connection

In Outlook Express, the following screen
will appear the first time you run the program. If you do not
see this screen, From within Outlook Express click the Tools
menu and choose accounts. Click the add button and select Mail.

An Internet Connection Window Appears.
Enter your name and click next:

Enter you Email Address (USERID@comm.virginia.edu)
and click next

Change the Incoming mail server setting to
IMAP.
Your incoming mail server is: webmail.comm.virginia.edu
Your outgoing mail server depends on your location:
a. Adelphia Users must use Mail.adelphia.com
b. Sprint DSL Users must use SMTP.Earthlink.net
c. UVa Dialup users must use SMTP.MAIL.VIRIGNIA.EDU
d. Ntelos (Cornerstone) Users must use MAIL.NTELOS.NET
Contact your Internet Service Provider if yours is not
listed.

- Your account name is MCINTIRE\USERID, and your password is
the same one you use to log in at McIntire

- Click Finish

Securing your IMAP Connection

In Outlook Express, click on the Tools menu
and select Accounts

Click Properties, and select the advanced
tab

Check the box under incoming mail that says
"This server requires a secure connection (SSL)"

Click OK, then Click Close

Your Mail is now encrypted when it is
downloaded from the server.
